The Intel® Xeon Phi™ co-processor works in tandem with the CPU, providing pure parallel processing power. Each card boasts over a teraFLOP of peak double precision performance while natively running your C, C++, and Fortran code. Up to 61 x86 cores per die, with each core having its own 512-bit SIMD unit capable of running four simultaneous threads(SMT)–that’s 244 threads, wow! The Xeon Phi™ acts as a multi-core System On Chip running its own operating system, a basic Linux kernel, and with its own IP address.
